Aaron and Andrea’s wedding day was absolutely perfect, even though it rained most of the day!  But, how romantic is that?  They say rain on the wedding day brings good fortune for the couple, anyway.  They chose St Joseph’s Church in Maumee, Ohio for their ceremony and St. Joseph’s in Sylvania, Ohio for their reception.  Both venues are stunning, but the deciding factor in choosing the church were the memories Andrea had there in Maumee going to school at St. Joseph.  And they loved how pretty the reception room was with a window over looking the beautiful scenery.  In fact, some of the wedding party were cracking us up from the window while we were outside later in the evening creating Aaron and Andrea’s romantic sunset portraits in the field below the window.  It was a fun wedding party!

The moment they both looked forward to the most on their wedding day was seeing each other for the first time and celebrating with their friends and family at the reception.  Even through all the normal stress of planning to make their day perfect, Aaron and Andrea loved that they learned to not sweat the small stuff and to just have fun!  They also said having great vendors to work with along the way was a must-have.  🙂

A big shout out to all the wedding vendors who helped make their day so memorable:

Mindy and Jimmy were married on a beautiful Saturday at Wildwood Metropark by the Manor House in Toledo, with their reception following at the grand Heather Downs Country Club.  Their wedding was stunning!  As their Toledo wedding photographer, we had discussed doing the hidden “first look” of holding hands before the ceremony.  The Manor House was the perfect backdrop since their wedding site was just around the corner at the Gazebo!

Josh and Nahdia: Engaged! | Toledo Engagement Photographers

Josh and Nahdia: Engaged!

Toledo Engagement Photographers

Wow!  This session for Josh and Nahdia was so fun and at a unique location that wouldn’t have happened if it hadn’t been such a rainy day.  But, go figure, after we started the session indoors, it quit raining.  Toledo engagement photographers really had some challenges with this year’s constantly changing weather!

Josh and Nahdia’s love story is one woven in time.  They’ve known each other for over 11 years, but they hit if off while working together at Toledo’s Gladieux Lumbar Yard on Route 2 in Oregon.  Nahdia was a junior in high school, and Josh worked out in the lumbar yard.  Their first date was to a Mudhen’s game, which is so perfect!  Being avid baseball fans, they made a goal while dating to visit all 30 US stadiums.  So far, they’ve been to Atlanta, Pittsburg, Boston, Chicago, and Detroit.  Josh knew when they were planning their trip to Boston that he would ask the love of his life to marry him.  And there, right in front of Fenway Stadium in Boston, he got down on one knee.  And she said, ‘yes!’, of course!

David and Erica: Engaged! Toledo Barn Portraits

David and Erica: Engaged!

Toledo Barn Portraits

David and Erica are engaged!  And they are getting married at the end of this year… as in the last day this year!  New Year’s Eve!  For their engagement portraits, they found a barn owned by a friend to use for their location since it had begun raining.  Their Toledo barn portraits turned out so fun and amazing! What a fun session with them and David’s daughter, Ava.

David and Erica met on match.com.  Erica had only been a member for a week and David had forgotten about his account.  When his account sent him a notice that it automatically renewed, he logged in and saw Erica’s profile.  They met for lunch and then went bowling the next evening.  It was meant to be!

Toledo Family Photographer FirefighterToledo Family Photographer Firefighter

How did he propose?  It’s such a cute story!  It was winter and David insisted that Erica get bundled up after a long day at work and go with him to see “The Lights” at the Toledo Zoo.  She agreed and they headed out.  David knew that Erica had said in the past that if he proposed, she didn’t want a lot of people around, so when David got to the zoo, he had trouble finding a quiet spot amongst the crowds.  At one point, he thought he found a nice little corner by a big tree, but as they walked around the walk, another guy was down on his knee proposing.  Talk about pressure as if David wasn’t already a little nervous!  He did eventually find the perfect place and talked Erica into taking a ‘selfie’ with him, and then he dropped down on a knee and asked her to be his wife.  Of course, she said, “Yes”!

Dustin & Casey Engaged!

Vintage Wedding Photographer

We just love this vintage theme-styled session from Dustin and Casey’s engagement shoot!  As their vintage wedding photographer we love new locations and Casey chose her parent’s restored farm house as the perfect spot.  Complete with turn-of-the-century furnishings (and car!), the theme was easy to be creative with!

How did you meet?

“Dustin and I first met at a coffee house called George House in Findlay, Ohio. The coffee house is right across from the University and it was early December so there were lots of students there studying for upcoming exams. I was sitting down drinking my coffee and there was nowhere to sit.  He came up to my table and asked to sit with me. I said ‘yes’ and we could not stop talking.”  A romance starting over a good cup of coffee!

The day before Dustin proposed to me he said he was going to take me out to our favorite steak house in Columbus called The Top. I was 100% sure he was going to propose so I went out and bought a new dress, shoes, got my hair done the whole 9 yards. I came home the night before and he said I looked nice but he wasn't sure why I was getting so "gussied up." He even went on to say he didn't want me to get my hopes up and that we were just celebrating that he had sold his house. Well I was disappointed needless to say. The 19th of December came around and we headed down to Columbus. It was cold and rainy but we hit the mall and much to my ever growing disappointment did very ordinary things. We went over to the steak house early and stayed in the car not wanting to go in to early. In the car we got into this conversation about engagement and how Christmas was coming up. That relatives were sure to be poking around once again asking where the ring was. I told Dustin that I would not let it bother me this year and I was ok with waiting a little longer if he needed more time to save up for the asscher diamond ring he wanted to buy me. We went in and I noticed that everyone was really nice to us. I didn't think anything of it since whenever we have gone down they have always been very kind. Then I noticed that Dustin was acting funny. I could hardly get him to talk and it was borderline awkward. I asked him if he was mad at me and he said no that he was just tired. After awhile I got up to use the restroom. When I came back there was a big tray of dessert sitting on our table. When I sat down Dustin jumped up and said I have to do to the bathroom! and ran off I thought "that's strange" I sat waiting for him to come back and was listening to the piano player. The Top was really crowded and he came back to the booth but moved to stand right beside me because I assumed he was letting a waiter by. But next thing I knew he was on one knee with a box. He said "Casey Marie, will you marry me?" He opened the box and it was glowing! I later found out that He and his son had installed the little light in it earlier in the week because The Top was dark and he wanted me to see the solitaire Asscher cut Diamond ring that he had picked out just two days earlier. I said yes and asked the piano player to play and sing "I only have eyes for you" by the Flamingos. Congratulations to you both!  We can’t wait until your vintage wedding next year!  And we just heard news that Dustin was hand-selected as the engineer for the Presidental Train later this year!  What an exciting adventure!

Holiday Inn French Quarter Wedding

Michael and Casey’s Holiday Inn French Quarter wedding was simply beautiful!  They were married at St. Richard Church in Swanton before celebrating their reception at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg, Ohio.  The bridemaids’ soft muted dresses really made their purple bouquets stand out and we sure had a lot of fun capturing the colors!

Scott and Katie’s Toledo wedding was a dream from start to finish!  The weather reported 80% chance of rain, but it held off for their special day.  Spotty weather in this area is something that Toledo wedding photographers have learned to work with, but we were so happy it turned out nice!  They were married in the church that Katie grew up in, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Temperance, Michigan.  The tall windows in the sanctuary let in soft beautiful light for their ceremony… it was so perfect that they kept the sanctuary lights off!

Scott and Katie = Engaged!

Scott and Katie’s wedding is right around the corner!  Next month, they’ll be saying “I do” at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and hosting their reception at the lovely Central Park West.  We can’t wait!  As a downtown Toledo photographer, we were so excited when they chose an urban look for their engagement session.  Downtown Toledo offers so many unique portrait locations, and with our lighting and posing style, the urban look is amazing for a ‘love’ session!

A little snow didn’t keep us from venturing outdoors… but Scott and Katie were snuggling to keep warm!

I love to ask about the proposal!  And what a romantic one!  Scott had taken Katie to the beautiful Toledo Botanical Gardens for a date through the sculpted nursery.  They had been there a few years earlier together and had taken a picture together under the weeping willow, so Scott prompted them to take another picture of themselves while they were there.  As they walked out from underneath the tree, Scott knelt down on one knee and asked the love of his life to marry him.  And Katie said ‘yes’!
