Oh, my goodness!!! This adorable little girl and lamb were just too cute together! A big thanks to the Indian Creek Camel Farm in L-A-M-B-ertville, too. It was the perfect backdrop… complete with camels walking in the background! This session was followed up with a day full of mini sessions 2 Saturdays later: our first set of our Special Edition Series! More to come throughout the year, and a great way for some unique portraits with different themes!

I first met Cameron and Jen (great name, btw!) at a Panera Bread here in town. We sat down and discussed their wedding details. Since I had never shot at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Defiance, Ohio, I looked up their venue and immediately fell in love with it! Cameron and Jen were so sweet together and completely relaxed about their wedding planning. I knew right away their wedding day was going to be beautiful! And it was! Jen’s dress was Ah-MAZING, and she looked so breath-taking as the church doors opened with her father leading her down the aisle on his arm.
With no prominent park in town, we actually took the non-formals at the local Defiance Library. The location was perfect, with it’s red stone walls, carefully manicured lawn, and all overlooking the Maumee River.
Their reception was just as lovely, with beautiful decorative details in black and pink. The new Mr. and Mrs. Stykemain were introduced and then immediately swung into their first dance as a couple…(always one of my favorite parts of the evening!). The DJ kept the evening full of entertainment with table games and laughter for everyone. Congratulations to them both!!!
Stephen and Kaylee tied the knot on this beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon in July. I had previously shot their engagement session here, but hosting their wedding at the Maumee Bay State Park set side for a whole other feeling of love. It was a gorgeous wedding, right down to the last ribboned detail of their seaside-themed reception. The ceremony was outdoors, facing Lake Erie and the reflective pond – just in the perfect spot for a slight lakefront breeze to keep the bride and groom cool in their formal gown and tux (which was BEAUTIFUL…I love the full-length image of Kaylee looking over her shoulder from the window). What a flattering and sexy dress! We walked along the pond for some of their formal poses, before heading indoors. And being the water-lover that I am, I couldn’t resist throwing in some creative shots with some of their decorations…like their rings with the conch shells. Best wishes to you both!
I first met Greg and Julia a few weeks before their big day. We sat down for some coffee at a local Panera Bread and discussed all the details. I could tell right away what a sweet couple they were…they were both all smiles, with sideways glances at each other. “Simple” was how they wanted to keep their wedding; but if it was simple, then there is definitely beauty in simplicity! Their venue of choice was the elegant Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons. Julia looked so stunning and graceful, and Greg was so relaxed and looked just as when we first met – all smiles! We began with a “First Look” by the Levis Commons clock tower, with the gushing water fountains and bright blue stuccoed tile. Then following the ceremony, we snuck outside for a few more shots while their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour. During all this, the staff was busy switching the ceremony room around into an evening ballroom, which you can see in the last image, was romantically decorated with twinkling candlelight and soft light. Congrats to you both!
We photographed Christine’s Bridal Session at the downtown Grand Plaza in Toledo. With her wedding day almost a month away, she also used the day for a trial run for her makeup and hair stylist. The end result was a lovely bride that appeared as if she had just stepped out of the 1950s era… I couldn’t wait to see Mike’s expression on their wedding day as he waited for her at the end of the aisle! Compliments go to Tiffany, her makeup specialist and Heather, the Grand Plaza’s Event Coordinator for providing us the beautiful backdrop of the Plaza for this incredible shoot.
Ali and Katie tied the knot on this beautiful day a few weeks ago! Katie’s wedding gown brought one word to mind…exquisite! The outer layered skirt was designed out of such a light material, that Katie seemed to just glide it in. It was both elegant and whimsical! The groom, Ali, of course was just as stunning…and hilarious! This couple had me in stitches during their winter engagement session, and it was the same for their wedding day! Ali was dashing, sweeping Katie into kisses throughout the day, but relaxed enough to show us his I’m-brushing-my-teeth pose during the formals (yes, he had a real toothbrush in his jacket pocket!). This is definitely a healthy dose of what every couple needs: romance and a little humor!
They recited their vows and exchanged rings at the beautiful St. Joesph’s Church in Sylvania, with a reception following at Lourdes College.
I didn’t get a chance to meet either Nicole or Martin until their wedding day…so we kept in touch, emailing back and forth until then. Nicole even emailed me a picture of her trying on her wedding dress! It was so elegant and chic, that I instantly was getting ideas for poses!
They met in Austria, where they both grew up. But, Nicole’s journey to the U.S. to complete her degree couldn’t keep them apart! Nicole called me just a few days after their engagement; and two months before their wedding date! I was so glad I had it available…it was an honor to photograph their special day!
I met Martin at the Ann Arbor Arboretum Garden, where we staged their “First Look”. The excitement on Martin’s face was adorable as he beheld his bride’s gaze when she walked up. It was a beautiful moment! We spent the next hour or so, photographing them in the garden, along the trail, and at the river bank. Then we packed up for a trip back to Toledo for their private ceremony outside of the courthouse. They exchanged vows and rings…and became the new Mr. and Mrs. Steskal!
Last month I met Kaylee and Stephen at Maumee Bay State Park (where they are also getting married at this summer!) for their engagement session. Love was definitely in the air…with hand-held walks on a sandy beach and the waves washing up to the shore. We even saw several families of baby ducks waddling their way to Lake Erie. They were so cute!
What a fun morning at the Toledo Botanical Gardens! I met Michael and Christine here for their engagement session…and despite the chilly and windy weather, we had a blast! Nothing like 2 hours full of dancing, kissing, piggy-back riding, and blowing dandelions at each other! These images were just as fun to edit, as they were to take! Congrats to you both! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next month!
This Saturday wedding in March turned out lovely! And forget about the rain! It threatened to pour, but held off enough for us to head outside for a few group shots after the ceremony. My favorite moment of the day was watching Tim and Kim seeing each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle! All the wedding planning for months on end…all for this special moment!
The Grand Plaza Hotel team was fantastic! Heather, the catering manager, coordinated everything so well and had the day running smoothly! And take a look at these reception decorations! Jamie and her co-workers at Candlelight Occasions did a fantastic job designing the hall…it looked so glamorous!
The beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres came from In Bloom Florist, right off the main street in downtown Maumee. (If you want an amazing florist, I always recommend these girls – They do amazing work with their floral designs!) Duran Duran provided the music, and photoboothlive.com kept the evening fun!
