Josh and Alyssa’s winter wedding day was perfect and 60+ degrees!  The sunshine was like a special kiss from heaven in the middle of February.  With them both living in Miami, the weather must have followed them to Toledo for their big day.  They chose the beautiful Nazareth Hall venue in Grand Rapids Ohio for their ceremony and reception.  And as their Nazareth Hall wedding photographer, we were so thrilled to capture their beautiful wedding!

And we love a good love story!  Alyssa shared how they met during their engagement session with us:

“We met thanks to Josh’s friend Richie. In May of 2014, Josh had just arrived home from the Naval Academy on a month of summer leave. Richie invited Josh over to his house in Adrian for a bonfire.  Josh didn’t want to go at first, but was eventually persuaded into showing up. I had just graduated from Siena Heights University and was still living in Adrian at the time and was also friends with Richie. I, too, showed up at the bonfire at Richie’s house. Josh and I were introduced and spent time talking around the fire. About a week later, we exchanged numbers, talked, and hung out the rest of the time Josh was home on leave. When he had to report back to the Academy, we still kept in touch through text and video chats. In July of 2014, we decided to make the relationship official.”

And how did he propose?  Josh has been stationed in Mayport, Florida.  He took a leave during March to visit Alyssa, which was right between his and her birthdays.  Alyssa loves soccer, so he planned a weekend getaway trip to Chicago to watch the Columbus Crew play the Chicago Fire.  Before heading out of town for their weekend, Josh got down on one knee and asked Alyssa to be his forever.  And of course, she said, “yes!”  And now they’ll spend the rest of their lives together!

One of the unique parts of their wedding, was the “Arch of the Swords” ceremony for their reception entrance.  The groom has to kiss the bride to pass and then as they walk through, an officer hits the bride on the backside with the flat edge of the sword for good luck and to welcome her into the naval family.Nazareth Hall Wedding PhotographerNazareth Hall Wedding Photographer Nazareth Hall Wedding Photographer Nazareth Hall Wedding Photographer Nazareth Hall Wedding Photographer

I love the whimsical, yet simple look, of Katherine just moments before she walked down the aisle.  We sneaked off to a nearby grove of pines, and these two images are my favorite of her bridal portraits!  To see more of Katherine and Marcus’ beautiful Apple Orchard wedding, click here.

Beautiful symmetrical groom and bridal portrait!

Nazareth Hall is one of my favorite all-time locations as a wedding venue in Toledo.  It’s every Toledo wedding photographer’s dream… old world look with a touch of class!  I love capturing the groom and bridal portraits in a way that they compliment each other (I’m always thinking ahead to portrait framing or canvas-hanging time!).  Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids offers so many hidden treasures for portraits like the ones above of Mark and Robyn.  They were married in the Grotto and held their reception in the beautiful Cadet West Hall.  See more of their wedding images here.

Love this close up of this beautiful bride!

What beautiful eyes!  WOW!  This is definitely one of my top wedding pictures because of Stephanie’s soft smile and aqua-green eyes.  (Sorry, Dustyn!  Only your chin made it into this gorgeous picture of your wife!).  They were married on a beautiful day this past summer just southwest of Toledo.  What a fun wedding party, too!

I knew Kathleen and Chris were going to be a joy to work with when they scheduled their winter engagement session.  Why?  They wanted to do a styled ‘theme’ session and loved my suggestion for a bookstore date!  See their unique engagement session here!  We didn’t have much time in-between their ceremony and reception, but we managed to capture some beautiful portraits at a nearby park that was dotted with weeping willows.  What do you think?  Is this not the most romantic spot?  View more of their Toledo wedding photography at this previous post!

Toledo Small Wedding Photographer

Intimate and small weddings in Toledo are so fun to photograph!

I always say how much I love to photograph intimate weddings.  There’s just something special about having your closest and dearest family and friends close by to watch you recite your vows to one another.  And it’s a great honor to be included as the photographer to capture it all with so few present!  Congratulations to the Samples and their new family!  If you’d like to know more, you can visit our post about Intimate Wedding Photography.

Fun Toledo church exit after ceremony! Vintage car awaits to whisk them off!

The look on the bride’s face says it all!  I just love Caitlin’s expression as she exits the church as the new Mrs. Acampa.  Love, love, LOVE!  And what a classy get-away car!  See more of their stunning wedding day at Inverness Country Club here.

I LOVE this image of their first dance! Kudos to DJs by Memories by Candlelight!

One of my favorite images from Kathleen and Chris’ reception.  Memories by Candlelight DJ services gave candles to their wedding party to hold up close at the end of their first dance.  Cozy and romantic, huh?

Staci’s father is a firefighter, and so is Jay, her new husband!  Their wedding day was very rainy, so our backup plan was to head to the firehouse for some creative portraits!  So glad we did!  I love this image of them that truly captures their personality.  And you can’t tell here, but my fabulous assistant (aka, husband, Jeremy) held the umbrella over me so I wouldn’t get soaked!

Beautiful First Look!

“First Looks” are becoming the newest trend with weddings.  It’s a special time for the groom and bride to see each other before walking down the aisle.  It’s not only good for calming any nervousness, but the grooms reaction is ALWAYS more expressive when it’s just the two of them (and me!).  Plus, if the ceremony and reception time are close together, First Looks allow for portraits before the wedding.  Vahid and Niloufar are two of the sweetest couples you’d ever meet!  I loved being a part of their Persian wedding!

How unique is this Scottish wedding?  Their kilts and the bridal sash were actually made in Scotland with the groom’s family colors and pattern!  I just love all the details of their attire.

Amazing ceremony and reception at a family apple orchard!

A little bit of a modern twist on the traditional wedding party portrait.  We love to be creative!  This image was captured on a small hill on the short walk to their outdoor ceremony site.  Their wedding was held under a shaded cove of apple trees!

Mr. & Mrs. Roznoski: A Nazareth Hall Dream Wedding! {Toledo Photographer}

Mark and Robyn’s wedding day was perfect!  Sunny, blue skies – trees and flowers finally all bloomed – and Grand Rapid’s exquisite Nazareth Hall.  After getting ready in the bridal suite, Robyn made her way down the spiral stairs to the front of the Cadet West windows, where her husband-to-be was waiting with anticipation for their “First Look”.  It was amazing!  They hugged, they kissed, they laughed, and I’m pretty sure I saw some tears.

They recited their vows in front of family and friends in the Grotto, the outside chapel, before being whisked away to a fun night of dancing and celebration in Cadet West.  The setting sun poured through the western facing windows, creating a romantic glow for the newly-married couple.  I can’t wait to publish their private online gallery!

Mark + Robyn = Engaged! {a Sidecut Park Session, Toledo Wedding Photographer}

Mark and Robyn are the perfect match!  It’s been sooo much fun getting to know them both over the past few months!  When it came time to schedule their engagement session, Robyn knew exactly were she wanted it:  Sidecut Metro Park in Maumee, Ohio.  And what a great choice!  We had to reschedule their session twice due to rain… third time is a charm, right?  The day was as charming as these two were together!  Congratulations to you both and I can’t wait until your wedding day at Nazareth Hall!

Trying to get caught up on my blogging!  The rush of Christmas orders and last minute sessions are keeping me on my toes…not to mention trying to fit in all my Christmas shopping!  Here’s a post from one of my favorite indoor/outdoor venues…

Amy was absolutely stunning in her strapless wedding gown and the look in Nick’s eyes when he first saw her walk down the the Grotto at Nazareth Hall was priceless!  With the beautiful Hall’s backdrop and the bride’s attention to details, the wedding day was PERFECT!  Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Stasa!

Mr. & Mrs. Benitez

Elizabeth and Roniel repeated their vows in front of their family and friends 2 weeks ago at Blessed John XXIII Church.  It was amazing to watch two people from different cultures who fell in love to be able to combine their heritages for a bilingual (and very beautiful!) ceremony.  Elizabeth was every bit the lovely bride, and Roniel the charming groom (he surprisingly dipped her for a kiss twice during the day!).  It was so much fun to capture these two on their happiest day of their lives!  Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Benitez!
