Toledo Club Wedding

Glamour-Styled Toledo Wedding

This incredible glamour-styled Toledo wedding was the love effort of some of the best talents in the wedding industry.  A styled shoot is a collaboration of artists and models who come together, design, plan, and execute their vision using photography.  We wanted a high-end glamour styled look blending the historical beauty of the Toledo Club with modern fashion.  This 1889 building was originally a men’s only club until the recent decades, when it modernized to include women in its private membership.  Just walking the high-ceiling halls and grand staircases give such a posh impression that we knew this Toledo Club wedding was the perfect location.

A special thanks to Amy Lewis, of Makeup by Amy Lewis and Co., for organizing so much of the details.  Also, thank you to the models and vendors who made everything amazing: Theresa Carroll of the Toledo Club, Michelle McCaulla of Belle Amour Bridal Store, Ann Strickland of Hafner Florist, Janelle Faulkner the hairstylist of Creative Excellence Salon, Scott Bonnicks of Ticknors Men’s Clothier, I Do Chaircovers, and our talented models James Broxton and Marlayna Anderson.

Josh and Alyssa’s winter wedding day was perfect and 60+ degrees!  The sunshine was like a special kiss from heaven in the middle of February.  With them both living in Miami, the weather must have followed them to Toledo for their big day.  They chose the beautiful Nazareth Hall venue in Grand Rapids Ohio for their ceremony and reception.  And as their Nazareth Hall wedding photographer, we were so thrilled to capture their beautiful wedding!

And we love a good love story!  Alyssa shared how they met during their engagement session with us:

“We met thanks to Josh’s friend Richie. In May of 2014, Josh had just arrived home from the Naval Academy on a month of summer leave. Richie invited Josh over to his house in Adrian for a bonfire.  Josh didn’t want to go at first, but was eventually persuaded into showing up. I had just graduated from Siena Heights University and was still living in Adrian at the time and was also friends with Richie. I, too, showed up at the bonfire at Richie’s house. Josh and I were introduced and spent time talking around the fire. About a week later, we exchanged numbers, talked, and hung out the rest of the time Josh was home on leave. When he had to report back to the Academy, we still kept in touch through text and video chats. In July of 2014, we decided to make the relationship official.”

And how did he propose?  Josh has been stationed in Mayport, Florida.  He took a leave during March to visit Alyssa, which was right between his and her birthdays.  Alyssa loves soccer, so he planned a weekend getaway trip to Chicago to watch the Columbus Crew play the Chicago Fire.  Before heading out of town for their weekend, Josh got down on one knee and asked Alyssa to be his forever.  And of course, she said, “yes!”  And now they’ll spend the rest of their lives together!

One of the unique parts of their wedding, was the “Arch of the Swords” ceremony for their reception entrance.  The groom has to kiss the bride to pass and then as they walk through, an officer hits the bride on the backside with the flat edge of the sword for good luck and to welcome her into the naval family.Nazareth Hall Wedding PhotographerNazareth Hall Wedding Photographer Nazareth Hall Wedding Photographer Nazareth Hall Wedding Photographer Nazareth Hall Wedding Photographer
